ABOUT ACTION ORTHOTICS & PROSTHETICS

Most of our patients at Action Orthotics & Prosthetics come to meet directly with a member of our qualified staff based upon a prescription or recommendation made by their physician or therapist. No referral is necessary to book an appointment. During your assessment you will meet with one of our Certified Professionals, Jacklyn Watkinson-Sullivan CPO (c) and Stuart Watkinson CPO (c) FCBC.


At Action Orthotics & Prosthetics, we offer a no-charge initial Biomechanical assessment, an on-site lab to better service your needs, and we are open 5 days a week to provide you with the best patient care, optimal follow-up care and ease of any orthotic and prosthetic adjustment.

Jacklyn Watkinson-Sullivan CPO (c)

(Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist) and owner of Action Orthotics & Prosthetics
As co-founder of Action Orthotics & Prosthetics established in 2012, Jacklyn:

  • Is an Orthotics Prosthetics Canada (OPC) Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist with over 10 years’ experience in the industry, she started her career in Northern Alberta where she saw a wide variety of workplace related accidents, the complexity of these injuries has helped broaden her skill set. She has also worked closely with the pediatric population in Northern Alberta and Kamloops prior to moving back home to the Okanagan. Since moving back to the Okanagan she has worked more closely with the geriatric and diabetic populations helping to improve quality of life and mobility.
  • Is an OPC certified practitioner, is an allied health professional who is specifically educated and clinically trained to manage the provision of comprehensive orthotic and prosthetic care, based upon a detailed clinical biomechanical assessment, to restore physiological function and/or cosmesis.
  • Is experienced in a wide variety of custom-made or customized fit orthotic and prosthetic devices, including:
    • Spinal orthotics for management of scoliosis
    • Other spinal pathologies, neurological disorders
    • Orthoses (ankle foot orthotics, knee ankle foot orthotics) used to offset these deficiencies
    • Upper extremity orthoses
    • Sports/arthritic knee bracing
    • A wide variety of custom-made foot orthotic designs all based on specific patient needs.
    • Specializes in providing prosthetic care to a wide range of amputees, from pediatrics to the sports enthusiast to our more senior population

In her free time Jacklyn enjoys a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, camping and fishing with her young son and family. She was raised in the Okanagan, and her love of the Okanagan Valley was part of what drove her to open Action Orthotics & Prosthetics to help offer enhanced prosthetic & orthotic services throughout the South Okanagan, better servicing the medical needs of the community. Jacklyn has also been known to take on the occasional `pet` project, making a custom ACL knee brace or prosthetic for a dog in need.

Stuart Watkinson, CPO (c) FCBC

(Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist) and co-owner of Action Orthotics & Prosthetics

 

As president and co-founder of Action Orthotics & Prosthetics, since its incorporation in 2012, Stuart:

  • Is an Orthotics Prosthetics Canada (OPC) Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist with over 30 years’ experience in the industry. Stuart started his career in Saskatoon, he then spent some time in Winnipeg where he started his family before moving down to Memphis. He worked as a research prosthetist at the University of Tennessee, before settling in Kelowna for many years prior to opening Action Orthotics & Prosthetics in Penticton in 2012.
  • Was bestowed with the honor of Fellowship in Prosthetics and Orthotics in 2006 to commemorate his many years of volunteer service to help better the prosthetic & orthotic industry over the years.
  • Is experienced in a wide variety of custom-made or customized fit orthotic and prosthetic devices, including:
    • Spinal orthotics for management of scoliosis and other spinal pathologies
    • Neurological disorders and the orthoses used to offset these deficiencies (ankle foot orthotics & knee ankle foot orthotics)
    • Upper extremity orthoses
    • Sports/arthritic knee bracing

In his free time, Stuart enjoys golf, fishing and travelling the warmer climates in his coach when free time permits.
